Virtual Backgrounds
The Virtual Background feature allows you to display an image or video as your background during a Zoom Meeting. This feature works best with a green screen and uniform lighting, to allow Zoom to detect the difference between you and your background. You can upload your own images or videos as a virtual background.
How to enable Virtual Backgrounds
- Sign in to your Columbia Zoom account with this link here: Columbia Zoom Sign-in
- If you are using a Mailman Lecture account, sign in with this link here: Mailman lecture Sign-in
- Once you are signed in click on "Settings" tab on your left hand side.
- Scroll down to the "Virtual background" feature and enable.
- You also have the option to allow videos for virtual backgrounds, to do so just enable that feature.
How to use Virtual Backgrounds
- Once you join a call, click on the up arrow button located in the "Start Video" button.
- Now click on "Video Settings"
- Now click on "Background & Filters" button.
- You may now select the options Zoom has provided.
- To use your own Virtual backgrounds, click on the button located on the right hand side. You have the option of choosing a photo or a video.
- If you have a green screen, please enable that option.
- Now exit your settings and you should be all set!
