Screen Share

Zoom screen share allows you to present your PowerPoint or other applications to your attendees as well as annotate and high light certain aspects of your presentation. Below is a guide on how to enable screen sharing and how to use screen sharing.

How to enable Screen sharing

  1. Sign in to your Columbia Zoom account with this link here: Columbia Zoom Sign-in
    1. If you are using a Mailman Lecture account, sign in with this link here: Mailman lecture Sign-in
  2. Once you are signed in click on "Settings" tab on your left hand side



  3. Scroll down to "Who can share?"
    1. If you do not want anyone else to share but the Host, just select "Host Only", if you would like others to share then select "All Participants"
    2. If you as a Host would like to start sharing when someone else is sharing, enable "Host only"


How to Screen share.

  1. Once joined the call as a Host or after you Claim Host click on the "Screen Share" button located meeting control bar. 
    1. You may also select the "Screen share" button located in the middle of the Zoom app.




  2. Now you may select what you would like to share, please see the screenshot below.
    1. Screen 1 and Screen 2 is an option if you would like to share your entire display. (Will be handy if you are planning to share multiple presentation or applications).
    2. You may also have the option to screen share any other application, just start the application before you click "Screen Share".
    3. When you are presenting a PowerPoint, please click on the "Slide Show" tab in your PowerPoint then "From Beginning" or "From Current Slide".

      1. Once you've begun your PowerPoint slide, follow step 1and select "PowerPoint Slide Show". This will ensure that you are sharing your presentation.

    4. You may also select the Whiteboard and use the annotation tool bar to highlight, draw, write text, spot light, and an erase.
      1. You may also save what you have created on your whiteboard, by clicking the "Save" button.
    5. You may also share your iPhone or iPad, but will be required to download a Plugin.


      1. Once installed simply follow these instructions below and you should be able to screen share your iPhone or iPad.

  3. Lastly, if you are sharing a video clip please enable "Share computer sound" and "Optimize Screen Sharing for Video Clip"


  4. Click the "Share" button and you will begin screen sharing.


  5. To know if you are screen sharing or not, on the top of your display you should be able to see this image below.


  6. Now to access your meetings control, just hover your mouse over the image above.
