Quick Start Set-Up Guide for Case Lounge

Introduction

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to set up the classroom's technology for teaching.

Turning on the PC

  1. Check the computer monitor on the top of the podium:

    • If the screen is black, press and hold on the monitor screen for 3-4 seconds.

    • If you still don’t see the PC, proceed to step 2.

  2. Access the podium:

    • Open the podium doors located below the drawers.

  3. Check the PC:

    • Look for a white light on the power button.

    • If no light is visible, press the power button to turn on the PC.

Signing into the Computer

If the computer is already on and logged into the desktop, you can proceed with accessing and displaying your material.

  1. Navigate to the login screen:

    • Press ENTER twice on the keyboard.

    • Use the mouse to select "Other User".

  1. Enter your credentials:

    • Type your UNI (without @columbia.edu) in the username field as shown below.

    • Enter your password.

       

  1. Once signed in successfully, you will be taken to the desktop as shown below.

Setting up Projection

  1. Using the monitor on the podium, Press the "PC" button.

    • This action will:

      1. Turn on the projector

      2. Lower the screen

      3. Display the PC screen

 

If you do not see the “PC” button or any of the room controls on the monitor, please tap the middle of the screen. To put the monitor in FULL SCREEN, tap the middle of the screen again.

Setting up Microphone

Choose one of the following options:

Option A: Podium Microphone

  1. The podium microphone can be used if you prefer to speak at the podium. Adjust the height accordingly to reach your desired volume.

     

Option B: Lavaliere Microphone

  1. Find the lavaliere microphone on top of the podium (or check the drawers if not visible).

  2. Clip the microphone about 6 inches from your mouth.

  3. Turn on the power switch (located at the top of the mic).

    • Look for a green light indicating power is on.

  4. Speak and adjust the microphone position as needed for desired volume.

Option C: Handheld Microphone

  1. Locate the handheld microphone on top of the podium.

  2. Turn on the power switch. The mic window will be lit indicating the power is on.

  3. Speak and adjust the microphone position as needed for desired volume.

Login issues

Double-check UNI and password; contact AV if the issue persists.

Projector not displaying

Verify "PC" button was pressed on wall panel or podium monitor.

Microphone does not turn on

Change the batteries. Batteries can be found in the podium drawer.
