Lab Computing Purchases

Labs must contact Research Computing before purchasing any computing equipment that may potentially exceed the limitations of power and cooling capability of assigned Greene Science Center Lab space.

The Research Computing team will work with our operations and facilities contacts to determine where the equipment can be located.

Lab spaces should normally accommodate the following when only wall power is required, and the equipment is located near an existing network port:

individual consumer-grade desktop/laptop computers or workstations;

large external hard drives or storage appliances; and

printers, scanners and the like.

Self-managed equipment purchased by individual labs that cannot be accommodated in lab spaces will have to be located elsewhere.
