Quick Start Set-Up Guide for WJ 103
Introduction
This article will provide instructions on how to set up the classroom’s technology for teaching.
Turning on the PC
The PC should be displayed on the monitor at the podium. If you see a black screen, open up the podium doors located below the drawers (as shown below).
Make sure the PC computer inside the podium is ON. The power button will emit a white light if so. If there is no light, press the power button to turn on the PC. The computer should now be visible on the monitor.
Signing into the Computer
If the computer is already on and logged into the desktop, you can proceed with accessing and displaying your material.
Using the keyboard, press ENTER twice to advance to the signage page. Use the mouse to select Other User.
Sign into the PC using your UNI (excluding the @columbia.edu) and password (like shown below).
Once signed in successfully, you will be taken to the desktop as shown below.
Setting up Projection
Using the black NEC remote located on the top of the podium, press the white button on the upper right corner. This will turn on the projector. If the remote control is not on top of the podium, please check inside the podium drawers.
Setting up Microphone
For class recording purposes, microphones are installed in the ceiling and will automatically pick up voices audible in the classroom. You may use the lavaliere microphone if you need to project your voice louder in the room.
There is a lavaliere microphone located on top of the podium. This can be used to project your voice while walking around the room. If you do not see the lavaliere microphone, please check the podium drawers.
Clip the microphone on about 6 inches away from your mouth. Place the power switch located at the top of the mic to the On position. The green light will indicate the power is on. Speak then adjust the height of the microphone accordingly to reach your desired volume.
