Quick Start Set-Up Guide for WJ L107
Introduction
This article will provide instructions on how to set up the classroom’s technology for teaching.
Turning on the PC
To wake up the monitor, press the monitor for 1-2 seconds and you should see the PC.
If you still see a black screen, open up the podium doors located below the drawers (as shown below).
Make sure the PC computer inside the podium is ON. The power button will emit a white light if so. If there is no light, press the power button to turn on the PC. The computer will be visible on both projector screens as well as the monitor on top of the podium
Signing into the Computer
If the computer is already on and logged into the desktop, you can proceed with accessing and displaying your material.
Using the keyboard, press ENTER twice to advance to the signage page. Use the mouse to select Other User.
Sign into the PC using your UNI (excluding the @columbia.edu) and password (like shown below).
Once signed in successfully, you will be taken to the desktop as shown below.
Setting up Projection
You can either use the wall panel or the monitor on the podium to press the PC button. This will turn on the projector, lower the screen and display the PC screen.
Setting up Microphone
There are two options available for projecting your voice in the room:
Using the Lavaliere Microphone
There is a lavaliere microphone located on top of the podium. This can be used to project your voice while walking around the room.
If you don’t see the lavaliere microphone, check the podium drawers.
Clip the microphone on about 6 inches away from your mouth. Place the power switch located at the top of the mic to the On position. The green light will indicate the power is on. Speak then adjust the height of the microphone accordingly to reach your desired volume.
Using the Handheld Microphone
Locate the handheld microphone on top of the podium.
Turn on the power switch. The mic window will be lit indicating the power is on.
Speak and adjust the microphone position as needed for desired volume.
