This article is intended for use by students who need to setup macOS updates on their Mac.

Apple releases macOS updates periodically. These include updates to apps, hardware, and security for your Mac. After your Mac downloads an update you will receive notifications to install at a time of your choosing. Please follow the steps to setup macOS updates with the recommended preferences on your Mac:

  1. On the Menu Bar > Click the Apple menu icon.

  2. Click the System Settings… command.

  3. Select the General setting.

  4. Click the Software update preference.

  5. Click the Information Source icon.

  6. The selections shown are recommended.

  7. Click the blue OK button.
