The annotation tool is only available when you Screen sharing or using the White board.


How to enable the Annotation Tool

  1. Sign in to your Columbia Zoom account with this link here: Columbia Zoom Sign-in
    1. If you are using a Mailman Lecture account, sign in with this link here: Mailman lecture Sign-in
  2. Once you are signed in click on "Settings" tab on your left hand side.
  3. Scroll down to the Annotation feature and enable.
  4. You now have the option to save your shared screens with annotations, to do so please enable this feature.
  5. You also have the option to prohibit participants that are not screen sharing from using the annotation tool. If you wish to do so, you may enable it or disable it.


How to use the Annotation Tool

To use the annotation tool you will either be screen sharing or using the whiteboard.

  1. Once joined the call as a Host or after you Claim Host click on the "Screen Share" button located meeting control bar. 
    1. You may also select the "Screen Share" button located in the middle of the Zoom app.


  2. Now you may select what you would like to use the annotation tool for, either over an application or the whiteboard.

  3. Once you've selected what you would like to use the annotation tool over you will be presented with the annotation tool bar. If you do not see the annotation tool bar, hover your mouse to the meetings control tool bar and click "Annotate"

  4. You may also select the Whiteboard and use the annotation tool bar to highlight, draw, write text, spot light, and an erase.
