JAMF Enrollment for iOS & iPadOS

This article is intended for Staff members who need to enroll their mobile devices in Jamf. This article will walk you through how to enroll your iPhone or iPad on the University’s Mobile Device Management System (JAMF).

Requirements:

  • An active UNI

  • A mobile device subsidized by the Law School

  • Device must be setup



1. Change the Name of your Device:

The standard naming convention for Law School devices is CLS-DeviceSerialNumber. Please follow the steps listed to change the Name of your Device before enrolling your device.

  1. From the Home Screen, Open the Settings app.

  2. Scroll down and Tap the General option.

  3. Tap the About option.

  4. Tap and hold (Long press) the Serial Number section.

  5. Tap the Copy option.

  6. Tap the Name option.

  7. Tap the X icon to delete the current Name.

  8. Enter CLS- in the text field.

  9. Paste in the Serial Number that was copied.

  10. Tap the About option.

  11. Tap the General option.

  12. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to return to the Home Screen.

2. Enroll your device in Jamf:

The listed steps will walk you through how to enroll your device through the Jamf website. You will have to download two items from the Jamf website and install them through the Settings app on your device. Please follow the steps to enroll your device in Jamf:

  1. From the Home Screen, Open the Safari app.

  2. Tap the Private button.

  3. Tap the Tabs (2 squares) icon.

  4. Tap the + icon.

  5. Tap the Search or enter website name field.

  6. Enter: lionmail.columbia.edu

  7. Tap the go button.

  8. Enter:
    USERNAME: YourUNI
    PASSWORD: YourUniPassword

  9. Tap the LOGIN button.

  10. Tap the I am not interested option.

  11. Tap the Search bar.

  12. Enter: Mobile device enrollment

  13. Tap the return button.

  14. Tap the Mobile device enrollment invitation email.

  15. Tap the link in the message body.

  16. Enter:
    USERNAME: YourUNI
    PASSWORD: YourUniPassword

  17. Tap the Log In button.

  18. Tap the Continue button.

  19. Tap the Allow option.

  20. Tap the Close option.

  21. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to return to the Home Screen.

  22. From the Home Screen, Open the Settings app.

  23. Scroll down and Tap the General option.

  24. Scroll down and tap the VPN & Device Management option.

  25. Tap the CA Certificate option.

  26. Tap the Install option.

If you have a passcode set on your device, you must enter it before moving on to the next steps.

 

  1. Tap the Install option.

  2. Tap the Install button.

  3. Tap the Done option.

  4. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to return to the Home Screen.

  5. From the Home Screen, Open the Safari app.

  6. Tap the Continue button.

  7. Tap the Allow option.

  8. Tap the Close option.

  9. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to return to the Home Screen.

  10. From the Home Screen, Open the Settings app.

  11. Tap the MDM Profile option.

  12. Tap the Install option.

If you have a passcode set on your device, you must enter it before moving on to the next steps.

 

  1. Tap the Install button.

  2. Tap the Install option.

  3. Tap the Trust option.

  4. Tap the Done button.

  5. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to return to the Home Screen.

The Apps that are set up to deploy automatically will start to download. Please tap the Install option to download the apps. You will need to tap Install more than once.

3. Change/Set the Passcode:

If you already have a passcode set, you will get a prompt to change your current passcode. You must enter your passcode after you restart or turn on your device. Please follow the steps listed to change/set your passcode:

  1. Tap the Change Now option.

  2. Enter the current passcode.

 

  1. Tap the Continue button.

  2. Enter the new passcode to use on this device:

  3. Tap the Continue option.

  4. R-enter the new passcode.

  5. Tap the Set Passcode option.
