Canvas Working Group Collaboration

In 2016, Columbia University has begun to upgrade CourseWorks from a Sakai-based Learning Management System (LMS) to one powered by Canvas. We anticipate the transition will be complete at the end of 2017. Both systems will be available during the transition period.

Canvas is more suitable to online learning, flipped classrooms, and offers has an improved user experience. It is also has a mobile-friendly interface and a native app.
