1) Open Finder. In the top menu bar click on “Go” tab, then choose “Connect to Server".

Alternatively, use the “command-K” shortcut.

2) In the pop-up window, paste or type in the share URL, e.g., smb://alpha\ztest01:*@labshare-smb.engram.rc.zi.columbia.edu:/testshare 

Click on the “+” button to add the share to the list of “Favorite Servers”. (Next time when you want to connect to the share, you can click on the share URL in the “Favorite Servers” area.)

Click “Connect”.

3) In the pop-up login window, provide  your username and password.

Optionally, check the “Remember this password in my keychain” checkbox.

Click “Connect”.

4) The share name will appear in the list of Shared devices on the Finder’s sidebar, while its contents will be displayed in the right pane. You can now copy files to/from the share, create folders, etc.

You can repeat steps 1-4 to mount additional shares.I

II. To unmount a share:

Click on the “Eject” icon next to the share name.
